Your water heater, just like any appliance, has a specific life span. It can only work only as long as it can. Early signs would show as it does not work as it does before, colder showers, a heater that consistently turns on and off, or even an increase on your electricity bill.

You should always check your water heater for the presence of rusts and corrosions. If it already shows breaking secondary to the presence of the above mentioned, you might want to have it checked. Although some heater can still perfectly work with these, you must have it checked if it affects the performance of your unit.

Your heater, due to its mechanical and electrical mechanisms, may produce a little noise when switched on and that is normal, especially if you had just bought your unit and a professional installed it.
