Home Tips: When to Replace Your Water Heater
If your home has been more than the age of your eldest child and has not had the taste of renovation or even a change of electronics, then maybe it is time. Many of our home appliances and electronics are due for changing at a particular time of its life. Due to the wear and tear, and possible weathering, they are to live only up to their lifespan.
Items such as refrigerators, water heaters, air conditioning units, and television sets are expected to last as our homes do. But when it comes to a halt, you should not worry, there are a lot of shops that can provide you with affordable yet quality products.
What are the signs that you need to replace your water heater?
# 1 Age
Your water heater, just like any appliance, has a specific life span. It can only work only as long as it can. There will come a time that you would need to replace it as it either does not work anymore or it does not do its job anymore. Usually, a water heater can last up to 10 years, give or take, depending on the use and abuse that it took over its lifetime.
# 2 Is it doing its job?
Your water heater, in time, may lose its ability to heat up your water. Either due to a system fault or a mechanism does not work anymore. Early signs would show as it does not work as it does before, colder showers, a heater that consistently turns on and off, or even an increase on your electricity bill.
# 3 Presence of corrosions and rust
You should always check your water heater for the presence of rusts and corrosions. If it already shows breaking secondary to the presence of the above mentioned, you might want to have it checked. Although some heater can still perfectly work with these, you must have it checked if it affects the performance of your unit.
# 4 Does it make odd noises?
Your heater, due to its mechanical and electrical mechanisms, may produce a little noise when switched on and that is normal, especially if you had just bought your unit and a professional installed it. But if in time, you hear that the noise had gone louder, something is already wrong with it, or maybe it is already at the verge of breaking.
